ALAN LAWRENCE is a man with a mission. Country music seems
to be coming to a crossroad and needs some authenticity. In a time of drugstore cowboys
and rock and rollers gone country, Alan is one of the last few real country boys left. He
packed all that he owned into his truck and left his Florida ranch, along with his wife
Jeanne May, to pursue the American Dream. Born and raised on Florida farmland like his
father and his fathers before him, Alan was brought up to respect the land, the sea and
the people that call them both home. He was also brought up with a love and respect for
country music. Just barely old enough to hold a guitar in his hands, Alan began honing his
skills forever after as a capable craftsman of his own unique style of country music.
Alan's band, "Southern Draw" quickly became one of the most
popular and in-demand acts in Florida. Constantly playing benefits, fairs, conventions,
festivals, weddings, parties, and of course all the local honky tonks. Now fine tuning his
craft, Alan was a regular at the N.S.A.I., and the Casements Songwriter's Group in Ormond
Beach, Florida where everyone encouraged him to move to Nashville. He spent years piecing
together his recording equipment and laying down thousands of hours as an engineer,
producer, demo-singer and session player, playing most of the parts himself. His main
instrument is the guitar, but also enjoys the fiddle, piano and bass. Overall, Alan's
vocal ability may prove to be his best instrument.
On a daily basis, Alan continues to write and produce new works,
independently and collectively with co-writers adding to his 200 plus catalog of songs. In
addittion to his daily routine, he is presently working on a non-profit project entitled:
"Little Slice Of Heaven". Alan, Don King, Dave Woodard and others affiliated
with T.W.R.A. (Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency) have recorded the title track to a
documentary of the life and story of Dan and Margaret Maddox (Bill Freeman, Jimmy Webb and
South Harpeth Farms) in hopes to generate an awareness of wildlife preservation for the
new millenium.
Alan's talents are not to be ignored. He sings and writes what he feels
and how he lives and has influences that range from Hank Williams to John Anderson, Elvis
to Lynrd Skynrd. He has the look and he has the sound, and on top of it all, he's a true
gentleman. As a published writer affiliated with B.M.I., and a member of the A.F.M.,
N.S.A.I., and Proprietor of Southern Draw Music and Recording, Alan is truly a dedicated
singer/songwriter who is traditional, yet contemporary and is here for the long run. He
deserves that big break and all the success that comes his way. |
