Grizzlies of Katmai

In 2017, I went on what would become one of the most difficult photography trips yet. I went to Katmai National Park in Alaska to photograph Grizzley Bears at the end of September 2017. It was cold and rainy with unrelenting rain for the first three days of the trip. There was no leaving as we were dropped off at a remote location and the plane wasn’t returning for a week. For 3 days we sat in a wooden box and slept in soggy tents before the rains stopped. I had to deal with moisture inside my cameras and lenses. Even with these challenges, it turned out to be a very rewarding experience to be so close to the 1000lb wonders.
